How do you burst a bubble ?

With all the talk of the web entering a new bubble with the new web2.0 era, will, when , how the bubble burst ?

This question becomes even more relevant having just read an article in the Saturday newspaper on how to create an online site ! This is purely off the back of the recent Google and YouTube announcement and the fact that this is now current topical news.

Over the last 12 months the internet has seen a new surge and revival with the revived passion and energy with many new and existing online sites and communities. This includes profitable deals, buy outs, mergers and an increase in some areas of online advertising revenue. All of this is great and is allowing the internet to move on to a new level but how long will all of this last ?

Surely this cross over or so called ‘jumping on the band wagon’ is the potential to burst a bubble which will cause :

  • over inflated prices
  • involvement from previously unassociated areas such as broadsheets offering advice on setting up sites
  • stifled market/industry
  • and so on

That said I’m not entirely sure we are fully in a bubble yet and it’s not directly like the previous ‘bubble’ but time will time and I would suspect there is still a good few years for more Google/YouTube deals.

The following are other simialr articles worthwhile reading for the content and comment.
